Tamarack's Winter Adventure Tours are led by expert and knowledgeable guides, licensed by Idaho Outfitter & Guide Association (IOGA) and certified in Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC).
Not only do Tamarack's guides possess excellent backcountry skills, they also are well acquainted with area history, flora and fauna, and make a point of sharing interesting stories and facts with guests throughout each adventure.
In order to ensure the highest quality outdoor experience, Tamarack provides each participant with tour-specific gear, which could include snowshoes, cross country skis, powder skis, backpacks, personal transmitters, and always an adequate supply of food and water for the duration of each outing. Certain tour itineraries require use of Tamarack's chairlifts and/or travel by snow cat, both of which are included in the package price.
Tour itineraries and duration may be adjusted to account for weather conditions and group experience. Tours are led on Tamarack's privately owned land as well as land Tamarack is leasing from the State of Idaho.
Snowshoe tours commence at the Trailhead Yurt in Trailhead Plaza.
Backcountry tours commence at the Gear Valet in the Sports Dome.
Snowshoe tours vary, but typically have a minium of 2 people. Four to six hour trips are available and starting points vary depending on the tour. Veritcal travel ranges from 700' to 3000'. Tamarack provides each guest with snowshoes, adjustable poles, a backpack, a snack and water

Randonee Ski Experience Full or half day trips
Randonee skis allow you to release the heel of your boot for uphill climbs and to lock-in your heel when traveling downhill, allowing for traditional downhill alpine technique
Tamarack provides guests with a pair of randonee skis and removable climbing skins to use with your personal alpine ski boots.
Randonee tours begin by traveling by chairlift to the top of Summit Express. The group takes a long traverse to the North Bowls on State land, from there you ski in steeper, ungroomed terrain, and in gladed and forested areas.
Cat-assisted Skiing and Riding (minimum of five people, snow conditions permitting)
Six-hour tour (only option), meets at 9:00 AM at the Gear Valet in the Sports Dome
Tamarack provides wide-bodied Rossignol powder skis, for use with your own alpine boots
Minimum of five, maximum of ten participants
- Total descent ranges between 10,000' to 15,000'
Tamarack's randonee ski tours & Cat-Assisted Tours are for advanced skiers only. The ability to negotiate precise turns around trees, boulders, and other obstacles, is a prerequisite for all participants, as well as the ability to navigate in varying snow conditions
Snowmobile Tours Full or half day trips.
Fly like an eagle on groomed ridgetop trails beginning at 7,700 feet. Enjoy high-mountain views, wildlife, and some of the best snow in the West. Tamarack Resort provides licensed and experienced snowmobiling guides to ensure that our guests have a safe and enjoyable journey.
