Jasper's Marmot Basin
Alberta
Marmot Basin is located in beautiful Jasper National Park, just 19 km south of Jasper, Alberta.
Marmot Basin offers more than 1,675 acres of uncrowded alpine terrain for every level skier and snowboarder -- powder, moguls, trees, alpine bowls and gentle slopes. From a top elevation of 8,534 feet, a vertical drop of 2,944 feet, you can ski 84 named trails. Various levels of runs can be accessed from most lifts, so skiers of different abilities can still enjoy the day together.
Nine chairs, including a high-speed detachable quad and two T-bars ensure that lift lines are short even on the busiest days.
Jasper National Park is Canada's biggest Rocky Mountain park. The scenery is most spectacular in the winter -- elk move through the lowlands and waterfalls are suspended, frozen in time. Other activities include ice fishing, guided backcountry ski trips, ice climbing and skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and horsedrawn sleigh rides.
The town of Jasper is cozy and compact. Accommodations range from bed and breakfast comfort to world-class luxury.
Jasper is just 360 km from Edmonton, 440 km from Kamloops and 285 km from Banff. Take a deep breath and prepare yourself for the adventure!
