2 Rivers Art Project
  8/23/07 - 8/23/08
  Glenwood Springs, CO

2 Rivers Art Project
Date Telephone
Aug 23, 2007 to Aug 23, 2008 --

The 2 Rivers Art Project Committee, The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association and the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts are accepting applications for the 2007-2008 art program "2 Rivers Art Project" in Glenwood Springs. We're looking for high quality sculpture (especially large-scale pieces) for this display. It has been a long time dream to create a strong public art program for the City of Glenwood Springs. We hope artists will consider being a part of founding this enterprise.

The exhibit is open to professional and amateur artists of all backgrounds. Each artist may enter up to two works. There are no limitations on the dimensions. A selection committee will review all entries and choose 10 pieces based on the originality of the piece, its durability and suitability for outdoors and safety for the public. Artisans, upon acceptance into the year long display, must be able to deliver their works by 7:30 a.m., August 23, 2007 to the designated installation site. Local businesses will be asked to sponsor the installation of individual pieces and after one year and will have the opportunity to purchase the piece outright. An art festival in Centennial park will conclude the display year and a Citizen's Choice sculpture award is to be announced. The sculpture will be purchased by the event (as a permanent display) and donated by the city. Following the art festival, any pieces that are not purchased will be returned to the artist's possession.

The pieces chosen for the exhibit will be available for sale. In the event that a piece is purchased during the exhibit year, the purchaser will be asked to leave it in the exhibit until the next sculpture change. In the rare instance that a purchaser must take the piece before the sculpture change, the artist is offered the opportunity to install a new piece.
