Red Lodge Mountain Resort |
A Red Lodge Mountain Snowshoe Adventure just may be the highlight of your vacation!
Red Lodge Mountain Resort offers a variety of well maintained trails for all experience levels!
Miami Beach Exploration - Beginner
The Miami Beach Trail is an easy journey for the beginner, or for the family with young children.
Peak Exploration Package - Advanced
Hike up through the trees following the Palisades Vista Exploration Trail but instead of turning back at the Cole Creek Drainage Area, you will jump onto the Cole Creek Quad and get whisked to the top of Nichols Peak, the east summit of the resort. Trek along the top of the resort with stops at the Nichols Peak Rock Vista Overlook, and the Snowmaking Pond. Along the way enjoy breathtaking views of the Beartooth Mountains, the tallest mountains in Montana. Upon arrival at the Grizzly Peak summit, you'll be able to kick your feet up and enjoy an easy scenic ride down the lifts and back to the Base Area.
Private Tour
If your tastes are bit more on the independent side and you want to get away from the crowds, book this package and get your own personal guided tour of any of the above trails.
~The only gear provided by the Resort is your snowshoes and poles~
What to wear and what to bring - Snowshoe Excursion requirements
BODY: Be prepared to get quite warm while you're trekking, but you will cool off quickly. Layers of clothing is the best way to address the temperature fluctuations. We suggest a thermal top such as polypropylene or equivalent, fleece or woolen mid layer, wind and waterproof jacket such as a Gore-Tex. Cotton is a poor insulator when wet; therefore you should not wear jeans.
LEGS: Hiking trousers or thermal leggings such as polypropylene covered by a wind
and waterproof outer layer such as Gore-Tex pants are the best. Remember - No Jeans!
FEET: Boots are not provided by the resort. Choose boots that are warm, comfortable
and will keep your feet dry such as insulated outdoor, snow-type boots like Sorels. Socks made from wool or silk are best. To keep the snow out of your boots, we recommend gators.
HANDS: Gloves or Mittens with windproof shells.
HEAD: A simple wool hat is an effective way to conserve body heat and prevent a chill.
A jacket with a hood provides additional protection from the elements.
FACE: The wind can get cold on the face so a ski mask or scarf is recommended. Sun block is highly recommended too.
FOOD & WATER: We suggest bringing water for hydration and even a snack for
energy. Bring a small backpack or a fannypack to carry your supplies.
